How To Play Minefield
Materials Needed
Sheets of paper, masking tape to mark out the playing area (optional)
This game is about navigating a minefield while blindfolded.
Phase I: Laying the Mines
Divide the players into two teams, A and B. Team A will lay mines, which are pieces of paper with circles drawn on them using a marker. This game works a little better if you have square tiles, which means anyone who stops on a square tile with a mine symbol loses. You can cut single sheets of paper into four pieces to create mines in this case. However, if your floor isn't made of tiles, you can just use full sheets of paper, one per mine, to cover more of the floor.
If the space is too large, you can use pieces of tape to mark out a smaller playing area.
The mines laid must provide for an uninterrupted path from the starting position to the finish line. If mines are laid that prevent this, ask the team to re-place those mines.
Phase II: Traversing the Minefield
Team B appoints a player to traverse the minefield and reach a destination point. This player must be blindfolded or close their eyes while traversing the minefield. They will then make their way from the starting point to the finish line, with their teammates guiding them using verbal instructions (e.g. "Turn right", "walk forward one step", etc.).
After Team B has sent 1-3 players through the minefield, the team roles switch, with Team B laying mines and Team A sending players through the minefield.
NOTE: This game is similar to Moo Cow Mines, but it is easier to setup and clean up.
