How To Play Speed Dating With a Twist
Materials Needed
Chairs
Set up the chairs in two circles, a small circle and a larger circle outside of that. Make sure that the chairs are facing each other and there are an equal amount of chairs in the inside circle as well as the outside circle.
The format or idea of how the game is played is like speed dating. Every kid will sit across from another kid, can be same or opposite sex, and will have a task to complete in 30 seconds before they rotate to the next person.
Here is a list of questions we asked kids to complete with each other:
- What's your most embarrassing moment?
- What's your favourite food?
- What do you want to be when you grow up?
- Who's your favourite celebrity?
- Who do you look up to the most?
- What's your favourite childhood memory?
Some of these topics may need a little longer than 30 seconds, others may need less. We used a cymbal as our rotation gong. This game is a great introduction to the topic of love or dating that also acts as a way for kids to get to know each other and break out of their comfort zone a little.

Add a commentI'm totally gonna try this at Youth Conference next year! It's going to be legit!
this game seems very instristing
Great game but I have some questions:
1) Do they have to answer all the questions?
2) If they sit opposit each other, do they speak in turn, each for 30 secs and then rotate, which means in 1 minute?
3) Do they ask these questions or they start answering atonce holding a card in a hand?
Thanks,
Hope to hear from you soon
I love this game i used this for my kids to know how adults get to know each other.
Rod, I love the term Spuddying that is awesome!
I'm starting a 6-week series with my Young Life highschoolers this week titled: Love, Sex and Relationships, What does God say? And this is a great icebreaker game to roll into our series! Thanks family!:)
This is another great ESL game
We did this recently with our Middle Schoolers and instead of calling it Speed Dating, we called it Spuddying (Speed Buddying) and they had to find out things about the person across from them that they didn't already know.
Used as a part of our Back-To-School-Meet-New-People month.
Kids loved it.
I am so gonna try doing this at summercamp this year!!!
