How To Play Gargon
Materials Needed
- A Flash light that can come apart into 4 Pieces (ie. handle, 2 batteries and the top bulb part.) if you have more pices that's okay!
- you need to be able to have the church or buliding available to play this game.
- make sure you can turn off all the Lights!!
This game is to be played in the dark and it an awesome choice to play as a night game on a youth camp.
Take apart the flashlight into it's parts and have the person who is "it" (the Gargon) to go around the building and hide all the pieces separately. EACH PIECE MUST BE VISIBLE IF THE LIGHTS WERE TURNED ON. (no hiding in cupboards and closets etc.)
Send the group into the area to hide and search for the flashlight parts. After one minute, the Gargon is sent out repeatedly saying "GARGON, GARGON". They must say it through out the whole game to warn of it's presence.
The goal of the group is to find each part of the flashlight, put it together, and shine it on the Gargon, ending the game.
HOWEVER; anyone the Gargon touches must sit down and is 'caught.' To be freed a person holding a part of the flashlight can touch the person who is 'caught.'
Note: If a person holding a flashlight part is 'caught' the flashlight part cannot be transferred to a new person. the Gargon takes it and re-hides the piece.
Hint: have the group find a set place to store the pieces during the game. So the pieces don't get taken by the Gargon all the time. Once they have them all then assemble the flashlight and catch the Gargon.
This game can sometimes take a long or a short time to finish.
THIS GAME CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS; make sure proper shoes are worn, be careful running and be cautious of other people.

Add a commentI play this game every Friday at a church. this is my FAVORITE game!!!
My youth group uses a modified version of the saying "Gargon" repeatedly rule. The Gargon has to speak at a volume relative to their movement speed (from slowly lurking about and speaking softly to running down the halls and shouting). The Gargon CAN stay quiet if standing absolutely still, but of course has to shout when they leap out from their hiding place, so you have some hope of getting away.
This was the best game I've ever played. Really fun 👍
My youth group at cross church played this but you have to find nerf darts and then you get a nerf gun. One time we played with water guns, and you have to find the water bottles. The 3 gargons have masks on. This is a great game!
Our youth LOVE this game...loud from screaming but a TON OF FUN!!!
Played this game on a overnighter with about 30 youth. They played several times for about 3 hours. Great game.
My youth group plays a similar game we called "Grog."
The Grog (gargon) is confined to a large room where all the flashlight pieces are hidden. (neither the Grog nor player know where the pieces are to prevent camping). If a player is tagged they go to "jail" for 3-5 minutes (depending on how many players and what you think is long enough). Jail is a room where the lights are on (killing the player's night vision before they head back into the dark room). "Jail" is also a good place to take the flashlight pieces to once they are found.
