Chair of Doom

Action games Junior youth games Small group games Circle games Large group games

How To Play Chair of Doom

Have everyone hold hands in a ring around the chair.

The object of the game is to be the last one "alive".
If you touch the chair you are out of the game.

Players must push and pull those who are next to them into the chair. If any part of the chair is touched by any part of a player that player is out.

If the ring "breaks" at any time(meaning two people let go of each other) they are both out.

When players are eliminated they simply leave the ring and the ring gets smaller.

Players can jump and dodge the chair as much as possible.

Materials Needed

One chair(a metal folding chair is what we use) but you can use any object that is about the size of a chair and wont break when bumped into.

We use a yoga ball so it is moving too and there are less bruises.

This is the same as Poison Pole I think. Fun game for sure.

We used to play this a lot, we called it Poison Chair. We used a sturdy stackable plastic chair, light and not easy to bend/break.

Variation: I grew up calling this game the "Kajabi Can-Can." Only significant difference was that we used a large, 55-gallon trash can in the center (which doesn't hurt to run into) and instead of holding hands, we had small ropes with knotted ends (about 2-foot length with simple knot on both ends).

The two rules then, were "don't touch the can, don't let go of the rope." We did create an additional rule, "don't intentionally yank the rope from your opponent's hand."

This game is always fun! We often create teams and have them alternate position along the circle. I highly recommend that if you want to change things up a bit.
