The Boy Girl Game (The Couch)

Team building games, Relaxing games

(This is a boys vs girls game but could probably be played with different groupings, it is helpful but not essential for everyone to know each others name.)

All players sit in a circle on the floor, except for 4 people (2 boys and 2 girls) who sit on 1 of 4 chairs. Everyone writes their own name on their slip of paper and puts it in a hat. They then draw a name from the hat. The name they draw is their 'identity' for the game. The idea of the game is to get either all boys or all girls in the 4 chairs. The team who fills the chairs with their sex first is the winner.

Someone starts. They call a persons name, and that person must swap positions with them. For example if I say "John", John must move from his seat into mine. The idea is to call a persons name (of the opposite sex) who is in the chair so you can go sit in the chair.

The part where it gets complicated is that because people have taken on different identities, you don't know which people are girls and which people are boys. For example I may call "John" but the person who has the name john could actually be a girl, and you may have caused her to move from the seat.

The game gets easier as it goes on as like memory, you remember which people have what names.

this is one of the games that my youth groups played while i was in middle school/highschool. this game is really fun. we played a slightly different version though, with an empty seat. the person to the right of the empty seat called the name, and the person called filled the empty seat, so on. the person who moved and the person who called then switch names. this makes the game even more difficult, and thus more fun. we called it 4 on a couch. great memories!!

We used to play a version quite like Julie's game. We called it "Hot Seats". It was a lot of fun.
